Exhibition “Beethoven. Orbits”

National Library of Latvia

From 16 June to 28 November 2021, the National Library of Latvia hosted an exhibition “Beethoven. Orbits”. The exhibition is dedicated to the 250th birthday of the great German composer Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827). The content of the exhibition was created by Lolita Furmane (Lolita Fūrmane), professor at Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music. Her research on the importance of Beethoven's music in Latvia in different periods of time is revealed through numerous historical documents. At the same time, Professor Furmane's research into the various performances and personalities of the music also shows the rich cultural life of Latvia and particularly highlights the presence of Beethoven's music in different political and historical contexts up to the present day.
